This is the combo most X-Maxx and XRT owners are actually looking for. The Castle Creations Cobra 5 replaces the legendary Mamba XLX2 in the same footprint — no chassis surgery — and pairs here with the Castle 4-pole, 12-slot sensored 2028-1100Kv motor. Underneath the familiar shape: 32-bit dual-core processing, a rebuilt current-sensing and thermal protection system, and CRYO-DRIVE thermal management for aggressive, high-load running.
Why 1100Kv?
1100Kv is the do-everything wind of the Cobra 5 lineup. Castle points it squarely at the Traxxas X-Maxx and XRT, Arrma Kraton 8S and Outcast 8S, and the HPI Baja 5B — heavy, high-performance rigs that still want real speed on tap. Against the 800Kv it trades a slice of bottom-end for meaningfully more RPM, without surrendering the controllable low-end that makes these trucks driveable instead of just fast.
SmartSense and Real Tuning
SmartSense reads the motor sensors at startup for cog-free launches and precise low-speed control, then transitions to Castle efficient sensorless mode once spinning. The Castle Link V4 USB adapter ships in the box and Castle Link 2 is free, so tuning, data logging and firmware updates never cost extra. This generation adds separate brake and reverse curves, double the log sample frequency, ESC electrical timing data, and onboard-accelerometer acceleration logging.
